Wood
I work with wood dealers all over the country and am constantly on the lookout for interesting and beautiful new kiln dried hardwoods. Most of the wood I purchase is in "slab" form and because it often has not been planed or finished in any way you need a trained eye to know what it will look like once your chair is built. Sometimes my wood people will plane a section and wipe some alcohol on the wood to give me an idea of what it will look like finished. The specific boards shown on this page may or may not still be available at the time of your order and are meant as a guide. When you call me and reference a specific shot I will tell you. The last three photos show cherry and walnut slabs I picked up October 23, 2014 in Virginia. In addition to the wood shown I also have inventory of curly maple and ambrosia maple right now. If you have your heart set on a wood you don't see here just call me; I can source most woods within 5 business days. Do you have wood already that has a great deal of sentimental value but perhaps it has never been properly milled or dried. I can work with that also and have a gentleman I use in New Jersey who has a vacuum kiln which can dry absolutely green wood to 7% in 4-6 weeks for a very reasonable charge. |
